Sharifa is an architect, urban researcher and educator. She advises the government on urban development projects and is currently part of a team of experts developing housing and urban policy recommendations at KFAS. She is also project consultant at the London School of Economics on a project entitled "Public Space in Kuwait', in addition to working as a consultant on urban planning at the World Bank. She was a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and led a project entitled “Spaces of Living: Urban Reflections of Kuwaiti Society”. She also taught periodically at Kuwait University at the College of Architecture. Sharifa’s work has been published by the international journal CITY; LSE Kuwait; LSE Cities; the Barcelona Center for International Affairs. At the beginning of her career, she worked as an architect at Zaha Hadid Architects in London, and AGi Architects in Kuwait.
